Dodgers Anticipated to Make White House Trip for 2025 World Series Celebration
While the Dodgers move toward accepting, the fanbase remains divided over the political implications.

LOS ANGELES, CA—While the 2026 Major League Baseball season is still just a week away, with multiple teams set to report to their spring training facilities shortly after the conclusion of Sunday’s Super Bowl, all eyes have been on the Los Angeles Dodgers yet again in the political world as they discuss a potential visit to the White House.
As tradition, a winning team from a major North American sport is usually scheduled to conclude the celebration of their accomplishment with a visit to the White House, which the Dodgers did last April when they celebrated their 2024 World Series championship.
While the team has yet to formally announce any visit, all signs point to the team going for a second consecutive season, as Dodgers manager Dave Roberts shared his expectation of attending the White House in an interview with Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times at DodgerFest this past Saturday.
“I was raised — by a man who served our country for 30 years — to respect the highest office in our country. For me, it doesn’t matter who is in the office, I’m going to go to the White House. I’ve never tried to be political. ... For me, I am going to continue to try to do what tradition says and not try to make political statements, because I am not a politician.”
Well, that visit is now confirmed, but it was reported by Jack Harris of the California Post on Wednesday that a White House official said the team and the Trump Administration have been in contact about a potential visit.
A White House official exclusively told The Post that the team has been in touch with the administration and plans to attend, but a date has yet to be set.
While a date has not been confirmed, it is likely to occur in early April, as the Dodgers are scheduled to play a three-game series in Washington, D.C., from April 3rd to April 5th. Before the series begins, the team has a travel day slated for April 2nd.
Their 2025 visit drew backlash, but the Dodgers leaned on tradition. All traveling members of the 2024 champs attended — including Mookie Betts, who skipped the Red Sox’s 2019 Trump visit, and Kiké Hernández, who urged Trump to “show some humanity” in 2017.
Still, last April, the entire roster that was involved from the previous championship was in attendance, including Mookie Betts, who said he’d need some time to consider whether going or not going was in the best interest for him and his family.

Recent Dodger support for a right wing newspaper (CA Post?) was disturbing too. Seems our favorite team has a thing for fascism. Is this a topic you’d consider writing about? I may have to downgrade my Dodgers fandom.
