Blake Snell Headlines Encouraging Dodgers Injury Update as Glasnow, Treinen Progress
The latest Dodgers injury update on Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow, and Blake Treinen as all three pitchers move closer to returning for the playoff push.
LOS ANGELES, CA—It wouldn't be a normal baseball season without the Dodgers' robust number of injuries, and that has remained true this season with multiple key players on the injured list.
However, as the second half of the 2026 season rolls on and October is just around the corner, the Dodgers have had multiple players return from the IL, including Kiké Hernández, Tommy Edman, and most recently All-Star closer Edwin Díaz, who picked up the save in yesterday’s 4-2 win over the Seattle Mariners.
Blake Snell Continues Rehab Success, Could Rejoin Rotation Next Week
That said, the team is expected to continue to have multiple players return over the next several weeks, including two-time Cy Young Award winner left-hander Blake Snell.
Snell, 33, has been on the IL for two separate reasons this season, the first being due to lingering shoulder fatigue, the second being an elbow injury that forced the left-hander to undergo NanoNeedle surgery to remove loose bodies.
Snell has since ramped up his throwing program and made possibly his final rehab start yesterday, tossing four scoreless innings for the Ontario Tower Buzzers, allowing just one hit and punching out eight minor league hitters.
Before that start, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts stated that if Snell could complete four frames cleanly, the team would have a conversation about whether his next start could be for Los Angeles due to no off days in their upcoming schedule.
If Snell returns, it would open the door for the team to sell high and trade left-hander Eric Lauer, who, since joining Los Angeles, has a sub-three ERA and is 5-0 in nine appearances (8 starts).
Treinen, Glasnow Face Hitters, Could Begin Rehab Assignments Next Week
While the Dodgers welcomed back Edwin Díaz on Wednesday, before Game Two versus the Mariners, both Tyler Glasnow and Blake Treinen faced live hitters at Dodger Stadium.
For Glasnow, it was his second round of facing hitters, with Roberts stating the right-hander was able to get through two simulated innings, while Treinen managed to complete one frame.
“I was actually in some meetings, so I didn’t get a chance to put eyes on them,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. “But from what I hear from the pitching guys, both guys were really good. Tyler was two innings, and then Blake (Treinen) threw an inning, and they both came out of it well.
“So my assumption is Tyler’s going to go out on assignment and build up from there.
While not confirmed, the assumption is for Glasnow to kick off his minor league rehab assignment next week, as he hopes to rejoin the Dodgers starting rotation by September, with Treinen not too far behind.
Both arms are on the Dodgers' 60-day IL after Glasnow has missed nealry three months due to lower back spasms and Treinen due to right elbow inflammation.
